Have you heard about the R&B singer Miguel? This 25 years old artist from San Pedro, LA is in the game since 2000, when he started working with a local production duo called Drop Squad. Then he got signed with an independent record label (Black Ice) in 2004.
Finally in 2007 Miguel got signed to Jive Records and even contributed to Usher's Here I Stand and Raymond vs. Raymond. He also released a mixtape called Mischief, wich he means by the title to "tell people that there is an alternative to getting sort of the same thing".
In 2010 when he released his debut album All I Want Is You, the song with the same title featuring J Cole reached number 7 in the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The next single Sure Thing was a big sucess and reached the number one spot, and the sustained popularity made he won an award for Best New Artist at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards. He also had another number 1 in 2011 featuring in a Wale's song, Lotus Flower Bomb.
Now for his upcoming album Kaleidoscope Dream the lead single "Adorn" became very popular, reaching almost 6 million views on Youtube in just 1 month. This is his second number one hit in the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The most interesting thing about this song is the sample they used, Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing. It would be too much to call Miguel the next Marvin Gaye but the song is really worth listening, as he proved to be a great singer already. Check out the video for Adorn below:
Kaleidoscope Dream is supposed to be released in October, 2. Stay tunned for more information. And if you're in this music business also, don't forget to request your artwork by tSwagg clicking in the right banner.
